Hotel du Vin York

What a wonderful team at Hotel Du Vin – especially the lady on reception. She was so genuinely warm and kind from the moment we walked in, tired and rumpled after a long journey, that it felt like coming home to an old friend. She didn’t just check us in; she chatted, helped with everything, and made us smile so easily that our whole mood lifted. Every time we saw her after that, she had the same lovely energy – it genuinely made our stay feel special, and we’ve been telling everyone we know that Hotel Du Vin is now our go-to whenever we travel. Edinburgh is already on the plan for our next trip! The rest of the staff were just as friendly and attentive in that same quietly brilliant way. The hotel itself is gorgeous – spotlessly clean, with beautiful décor that mixes modern comfort and proper old-fashioned charm in the best possible way. Our room was incredibly comfortable, the breakfast was perfect, and the location meant we could walk to almost everything or jump in a cab for two minutes. Honestly, they’ve nailed the gold standard in every single detail, and it made all the difference. We can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you – we’ll be back soon. Al and Jess

What a fabulous hotel! Rooms were to a high standard. We were on the ground floor in a separate building from reception. Very comfortable spacious beds. Tea/coffee facilities. Lovely prestine bathroom & power shower. Good quality towels. The staff were so friendly & informative, we could tell they were happy working there. Wonderful ambience, attention to detail and willingness to make our stay wonderful. Special shout out to Faye & Abbie, wonderful receptionists who were very professional, informative & friendly. We intend to return in 2026! A pleasant 15 min walk to the centre and lots to see & do. A beautiful historic City

Lovely friendly staff (especially at breakfast). Excellent breakfast and very comfortable clean rooms. I don’t know if the York one is different from the Glasgow one but the rooms are not stocked as I expected. No soap bar, body lotion, drinks bar and snacks (to buy). This might be a new HdV policy? Still a lovely stay tho. Thankyou

Hotel Du Vin York is just beautiful. Perfect location for exploring the shambles and the Minster. We were there for Xmas eve to Boxing Day. The food was fabulous, and the staff were just lovely and worked so hard to make our family Christmas special. The rooms were beautifully decorated, comfy, and the added touch of Christmas gifts in the room on arrival with champagne was a real treat! Thank you so much for making our stay so special

Another trip and having stayed in York a few times personally I always enjoyed coming back. I found this hotel by chance really and the location looked good (around a 15min walk into the centre) In arrival it stood very nice with its own car park which is rare in a city, and overall a quality presence. I checked in and was shown to my room.. I say room it was an apartment, it was massive. Beautifully laid out in an open plan design, large bedroom area backed into the lounge and bathroom then separate toilet. Great decorations and lighting made in feel warm and special. Breakfast the next day was as expected, wonderful the menu choice was good and the continental options again very good. Homemade granola in bars, yogurt pots and cereal form. I had the avocado toast with poached eggs and was yummy. All in all a great stay and I’ll be favouriting it for next time I come to York.

Absolutely fabulous. Clean, comfortable, with a distinct French feel. The food is to a very high standard and delicious. The bar well stocked, although only sells bottled beer. Every single member of staff were really friendly and attentive with a special mention to Ben who guided us through the menu in the Bistro. Be aware, though, the hotel is cashless.

Lovely room, a little small but fully loaded with big tv and beautiful bath room suit, All staff where Lovely and welcoming. I was on my own away on training, but never felt like a Billy no mates. Sat in the snugg most evenings or chatting with staff in bar or restaurant. Food was brilliant morning and evening. No gym or pool but not a problem for me. Would definitely stay again.

The Best Afternoon Tea in York! Take the short walk from York centre to this beautiful building and you will find a far better afternoon tea experience than the more famous central places. I think it was fantastic value for a very substantial lunch, stunning presentation on a three tier stand, and everything tasted as fabulous as it looked. Great service in an elegant, calm restaurant, with very good wine list. Can’t imagine there’s a better afternoon tea in York.
